BENADOR: AIPAC, Obama's Best Friends

Obama assured Israel's visiting leader [Netanyahu] Monday that the United States "will always have Israel's back," in a display of unity between allies who often disagree. So, here we go again, the political theater surrounding the AIPAC yearly farce is in action. Naturally, Muslim Palestinians may be disappointed to see their “ally” Hussein Obama embrace Israel, but who can forget taqqiya, the Islamic sharia bound law? Taqqiya makes it legally acceptable to distort the truth and reality for the advancement of Muslim world domination.

AIPAC describe themselves as 'America's pro-Israel lobby', working to strengthen relations between the United States and Israel. But truth be told, the ‘working’ is most of all to facilitate businesses among participants and besides that, yes, protecting Israel.

In reality it is about a meeting of the minds what happens at AIPAC. The Liberal minds, that is. For a longtime, AIPAC has appeared to represent the rights and aspirations and other interests of Israel. However, the concurrent amalgam of like-minded officials of both sides who are in attendance and who discreetly have the secret agenda to undermine the God-created-Land of Israel and who are disguised under different and very dissimulated wrappings, end up simply confusing the average reader.

That said, there appear to be increasingly more common denominators between these two [Netanyahu’s and Obama’s] groups that are meeting at AIPAC’s yearly rituals.

Let’s look back a year ago, when on March 27, 2011, Lee “Rosie” Rosenberg was appointed president of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee or AIPAC. Rosenberg, a former "jazz recording industry veteran capitalist who [surprise] accompanied U.S. President Barack Obama on his campaign trip to Israel..." Furthermore, Rosenberg also served on the president’s national campaign finance committee.

Why would AIPAC, the pro-Israel lobby choose a hard-core liberal, an Obama-guy, to be at the helm of the pro-Israel institution previously known for their staunch, unfailing position defending Israel's interests in America -that seems to be part of the past as times are, obviously, changing.

Adding insult to injury, AIPAC's president is not only from Chicago, the home state of President Obama, but he is also on first-name terms with former White House Chief of Staff and current Mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel, as well as David Axelrod, President Obama’s former senior advisor.

Some may recall that in last year at AIPAC’s fest, Obama did not fail to mention the Chicagoan delegation attending AIPAC, very likely “friends of Obama.” And, this is what explains the standing ovation from an AIPAC Jewish audience last Sunday.

The list of actions taken by the Obama Administration to undermine the existence and the security and the safety of The Land of Israel, have been blatant, and they span from the betrayal of our first and foremost ally, Hosni Mubarak, which in the end has given birth to Obama’s infamous “Arab Spring,” to the largest arms sales ever made by the United States, to Saudi Arabia, for over 60 billion dollars, to mention a few.

However, the closeness of Obama and his entourage to the Muslim Brotherhood is the most terrible treason that could have been committed to a long standing friendship between our nations.

Obama in his own words, in this election year 2012:

“We have seen the terrible bloodshed that’s going on in Syria, the democratic transition that’s taking place in Egypt. And in the midst of this, we have an island of democracy and one of our greatest allies in Israel.... My personal commitment — a commitment that is consistent with the history of other occupants of this Oval Office — our commitment to the security of Israel is rock solid. And as I’ve said to the Prime Minister in every single one of our meetings, the United States will always have Israel’s back when it comes to Israel’s security. This is a bond that is based not only on our mutual security interests and economic interests, but is also based on common values and the incredible people-to-people contacts that we have between our two countries.”

But, in all of this, betrayal to the Jewish People and to the holy Land of Israel does not come from Israel’s true archenemy, Hussein Obama, but rather from Israel’s own offspring, as we will see below.

Despite belonging to the so-called right wing Likud, it is much more accurate to say Netanyahu is a LINO, a Likudnik In Name Only...

As it is, in America, where the majority of the population has been contaminated with the liberal views of the Left, we find people like McCain, siding with the liberal views of the Administration more often than not, or Speaker Boehner, whose tender manners have more of a democrat disguised under the wrapping of a republican. Likewise, in Israel, the hawkish politicians, who are former members of the Israeli elite Sayeret Matkal, time and again, do not fail to disappoint with their liberal approach to Israeli national defense.

Sadly, there is ONE common denominator that reunites both arch-liberal, pro-communist, pro-Muslim Obama, his JINOs, or Jewish-In-Name-Only gang of Rahm Emanuel, Lee Rosenberg, George Soros, and all the others... And, on the other hand, on the Israeli side, Bibi Netanyahu with his comrades Ehud Barak, Tzipi Livni, and so on...

And that common denominator is that both, current Israeli and American leaders betray the countries they were elected and mandated to defend.

For instance, how can the armies of both countries defend their country’s territory, interests and people, when their military behavior is based in the treacherous “courageous restraint,” the degenerated promotional suicidal version for our soldiers, that implies that the military are there to avoid civilian casualties from the... enemy! And, both our countries reward whoever of our soldiers gets to NOT shoot even in time of need, at risk of their own lives and more...

The truth of the matter is that it’s obvious that in all likelihood, 99% of the people attending the AIPAC-Obama-Netanyahu fest have only one goal in mind: Their own personal, political and business agendas -and do not have in mind the security of either the Land of Israel or the United States.

Rampant moral corruption is uniting the fates of both countries, and with which their more accurate description may in the end be, whether we like it or not, that of Big Satan and Little Satan.

The conspicuous godless turn taken by both Israel and the United States, and the ineptitude, inertia, apathy and lethal lethargy that both their so-called conservative population are exhibiting, indicate a sure descent to hell as they distance themselves from the moral principles that have always made nations succeed.

On the contrary, the godless are having the upper hand and are bringing both countries down to their knees and destroying everything that was progress and advancement, to give room to their world inspired by the Greek and Roman empires -which we all know too well how they ended.

So, in the end, as AIPAC’s meeting this year has been conspicuously two months earlier than last year, Mr. Rosenfeld must have been hard at work to make it match to Mr. Obama’s electorial needs...

Not a bad thing when one is holding an election at the end of the year -especially when so many Jews see nothing wrong in funding evil against their own people and against the Land of Israel...

Obama is hard at work planning on his every single move. Sunday he appeared at AIPAC. Monday he met with Netanyahu, Israel’s Prime Minister, assuring him that his “commitment to the security of Israel is rock solid,” and all that chronometrically timed before his speech today -just as republicans hold their GOP Super Tuesday.

We are in the world of global political manipulation and the loss of God and as a result, breaking the rules set in this world with the purpose of establishing a sane habitat for its inhabitants, are starting to slowly and surely bringing it closer to Sodom and Gomorrah than ever before. And we know what were the consequences of such a closeness to a godless, unprincipled, degenerating and decrepit world.

BENADOR: Netanyahu, Feiglin, Israel's erev rav fighting to be elected

Elections are also in the air in Israel where we find Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu fighting to succeed himself despite a self-defeating political agenda that places him in Israel Jewish history at the right side of his evil predecessor, Arik or Ariel Sharon, the ruthless hardcore general whose thick skin made him strong enough to take his Jewish brethren out of their homes and let them look on while he ordered the IDF soldiers to also demolish their homes. Sharon, the hawk with defenseless Jews, gave in and turned to be a dove in the face of rabid Muslim Palestinians whose only goal is to establish their country with no Israel to be found in any of their horizons.

Netanyahu said as part of his election make-believe that he would defend the rights of the Jews living in Judea and Samaria -only to turn around and do exactly the opposite.

In Israel's horizon, however, someone else has now risen to try to endanger Netanyahu's incomprehensible supremacy.

Moshe Feiglin, a hardliner observant Jew from Judea and Samaria, whom obviously the liberal Israeli and worldwide main stream media have not missed a beat hating to love calling him "a settler," is taking his fourth unlikely attempt at defeating Netanyahu.

As it is, Mr. Feiglin intends to pay Palestinians to convince them to leave the West Bank and Gaza, at a rate of $350,000 per family.

Reflecting the view of hard-liners, Feiglin maintains that Netanyahu, despite his uncompromising worldview, is not hawkish enough. True.

To the Prime Minister's discharge, one must say that not much can be expected from an erev rav as him, who places secularism over belief in G-d obviously in the public arena.

But, Mr. Feiglin, an observant Jew, who supposedly reads the Torah and prays to G-d on a daily basis, fails to take a true solid position to defend the Jewish cause in Israel, by only presenting a different style of accommodation to the enemy, when he imagines that those rabid Muslim Palestinians will ever give in to the 350,000 per family. And, if they do so, they will invoke taqqiya rules to betray their commitments and Mr. Feiglin will not be able to complain to anyone.

How can anyone who lives in the region not understand the kind of venom and hate they are surrounded by. What the Muslim Palestinians want from Israel is nothing short of her destruction, they want to push the Jewish people to the sea.

IF someone like Feiglin wanted to do something extraordinary, he should have gone the whole way: No negotiations whatsoever because whoever believes in G-d, needs to make no negotiations and needs to make no concessions. Period.

All else is part of Chilul HaSh-m, the desecration of the name of G-d, allowing others to think that the G-d of Israel is weak and cannot provide for His Children and Protect them, which is not true, because we have seen throughout History that whenever the Jews have believed in G-d unhesitatingly, He has come through.

The erev rav is personified in the likes of Netanyahu, Feiglin, Ehud Barak and so many god-less cowards, and History has always shown that there is so much, people can desecrate G-d's name... until the day when they are wiped off, unable to raise a hand and defend themselves, because they do not even deserve to be given that chance.

Netanyahu set to win party primary ahead of U.S. poll

(Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is poised to win a new mandate to lead his right-wing Likud party Tuesday in a primary vote which may signal he favors an early parliamentary election to strengthen his hand with Washington.

National elections are not due until late 2013, and Netanyahu's decision to hold the Likud primaries now has raised speculation that he intends to call a national vote closer to the time of the U.S. presidential election late this year.

Political commentators say a Likud victory in a parliamentary poll held before or shortly after the U.S. vote in November would leave Netanyahu better placed to deal with Barack Obama, with whom he has had a frosty relationship, if the Democrat is re-elected.

Many Israelis worry that Obama, in a second term, may exert greater pressure on Israel to yield land for peace with the Palestinians, which could upset Netanyahu's clout in his pro-settler party and its core conservative electorate.

His coalition government of right-wing and religious parties has shown few cracks and opinion polls show that Likud would emerge on top if a parliamentary election were held now.

In the Likud leadership poll, Netanyahu's only challenger is a far-right settler who has no chance of unseating him.

"It's a done deal," Danny Danon, one of the Likud's most prominent legislators, said about the primaries.

"There is no tension or competition. Our main battle is with Kadima," he said, referring to the centrist, main opposition party led by former foreign minister Tzipi Livni.

Danon said he saw a possibility of Israel holding the general election later this year. While Netanyahu has not said he wanted an early poll, "he prefers to lead and not be dragged there," Danon told Reuters.

LIKUD CHALLENGER

Netanyahu's opponent in the Likud race is Moshe Feiglin, 49, who lost a party contest to him in 2007 but hopes to win more than the 24 percent of the vote he polled then.

Results of Tuesday's poll are expected to be announced by early Wednesday.

"I want to return the Likud to its real path," Feiglin told Reuters. Feiglin opposes Netanyahu's embrace of a Western goal of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

U.S.-sponsored peace talks stalled shortly after they began in 2010 in a dispute over settlement building in the occupied West Bank.

Feiglin applauded U.S. Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich for recently calling the Palestinians an "invented people" and thought Israel should pay Palestinians living in West Bank land they seek for a state to leave.

"They don't deserve a state, certainly not in land that God promised the Jews," Feiglin said.

Though Feiglin's views mirror those of many pro-settler lawmakers in Likud, he is supported by few in the party's mainstream.

But political analyst Jonathan Rhynold of Bar-Ilan University said Netanyahu had reason to be wary of Feiglin.

"The Israeli public is not where Feiglin is. Any rise in Feiglin's influence in the party can hurt Netanyahu," he said.

The Likud poll will be followed by a Kadima primary election on March 27. Both Kadima and the left-of-center Labor party have been actively recruiting popular figures, and some influential wild cards, such as former journalist Yair Lapid, have thrown their hats into the electoral ring as well.

IDF "JUSTICE" FOR THE JEWISH PEOPLE HAS BEEN SERVED

Once again, the IDF court has rewarded a Muslim Palestinian terrorist with five-life sentences for the Itamar massacre committed last year, in March 2011, where five members of the Fogel family had their throats slit.

This comes as an unwelcome reminder that recently, the Israeli government released 1,027 Muslim Palestinian terrorists, suicide-bombers, terror-planners in exchange for one single soldier.

Now, the IDF generals find nothing better than give a five-life sentence to this terrorist, the same one handed down last September to his cousin and accomplice in the crime.

This means a lease on their lives -until, G-d forbid, the next one-million dollar soldier will be caught by the savages, kept hostage, and his dignity and life violated, waiting for the time when another leftist Israeli government will need to “distract” attention and release these two and at least another nine hundred ninety eight more terrorists.



As the massacre happened, the Israeli government did not retaliate. Instead, they approved construction of 400 housing unites in four towns in Judea and Samaria. The Palestinian Authority and the United States condemned the plan.

It’s as if though the Israeli government and the IDF are planning on making things get worse by the day for the security of the Jewish population living in the country.

Ironically, to defend their country, the liberal godless erev rav cannot even count on their own offspring, because of their un-patriotic education they are giving them. The erev rav or mixed multitude’s offspring don’t even have a notion of what patriotism is.
They are rather taught to defend more the rights of an enemy waiting to slit their throats -rather than to defend the Land of Israel and the Children of Israel.

But, *who* is defending the Land of Israel, the Land G-d gave to the Jews?

There are the compulsory, yet liberal soldiers who would much rather be roaming the night clubs in corrupted Tel Aviv. But there are also, some willing, Israel- and G-d-loving Israeli soldiers.

And, then there are the worldwide volunteer idealistic young men and women who do not hesitate to risk their young lives to defend the Land G-d gave to the Jewish people. These, are the true heroes.

Those lone soldiers are the ones who abandon the comfort of their homes, families, friends, and with their ideals in their hands, travel to Israel and join the IDF.

THE TRUTH ABOUT JOINING THE IDF

What happens when those valiant heroes participate in life during their service in the IDF? It’s something each individual must think about before deciding to join the IDF -and so should their parents and families.

While it is important to defend the State of Israel per se, it is also of utmost importance to consider what could be the intrinsic consequences of joining in the IDF.

Are you ready to think that once in the middle of the night you, your son/daughter, will be brought with his/her brother/sisters-in-arms to evacuate Jews who have been peacefully sleeping, and evict them from their homes, regardless if they are nursing babies, if they are children, if they are old or disabled...?

Are you ready to think that your child may be one night looking on at some crying Jews watching other, ruthless, heartless, godless “Jews” demolish their homes...? Are you ready for that?

I have been the mother of an IDF soldier, who supported her child’s wishes and dream to “serve with them” and protect the Jewish people in Israel....

But as I told once directly Chief Rabbi Rafi Peretz during a visit to my City: “I did not raise my child so that every night I would be dreading he will be asked to evict Jews from their homes and have that child of mine watch impassive while some Jews cry and other Jews demolish their homes... No, I did not raise my child for that...”

The IDF Chief Rabbi, Rafi Peretz did not answer. My child is no longer in the IDF. So, I can now speak up, loud and clear, so the Erev Rav, the mixed multitude, and IDF Chief Rabbi Peretz can clearly read this and learn that we know who they are and why they are doing this.

Something else to bear in mind before you join or one of your children joins the IDF, is that there is a one-million dollar bounty on the head of IDF soldiers, and if, G-d forbid, the unthinkable would happen, any of them could become the exchange for the release of over 1,000 terrorists that are being kept in good shape in Israeli prisons, waiting for the day of their freedom -as soon as yet another Likud, Labor or Kadima government, whose differences are minimal and their commonalities are huge, will need to use that tool to distract attention from their corrupted policies.

Should a Torah-abiding and G-d-loving Jewish parent rather have his/her child go to prison for disobeying orders, than having him or her lift a hand against or stand idly by while Jews are cruelly attacked by other Jews?

A good Jew above all, defends G-d’s Gift to the Jewish People, the Land of Israel, and not those who want their annihilation.

CHANGE THE NAME OF IDF FOR ISRAEL ARMED FORCES

IDF is an arm of the Zionist godless Israeli establishment since the independence of the State of Israel whose views were so liberal from the beginning, that when Israel had barely won its independence, the best thing they found to do, was to name the Israeli Army, Israeli “Defense” Forces, thus positioning themselves as victims who need to ‘defend’ themselves forgetting that they could be the heirs to King David.

The liberal notion of goodness implies that you give your other cheek when someone hits you and then, pray to idols hoping for the best. That’s not what life is about.

G-d not only says it so in the Torah. He gave us infinite elements to understand that life on this Earth was not going to be a peaceful life -unless we make it peaceful. And, how so? Simply by accepting that there are strong people and countries, and weak people and countries, and that as such, there will be winners and losers. There is no equality in this world. And, wherever you turn you can see it. If you look at the animal kingdom, the cut is clear: Strong, survive. Weak, perish.

Why do mankind think that the law is different for us? Look at a newborn: What happens as soon as the baby is born? Will the baby stand up and start walking just as other mammals from the animal kingdom? No.

Life is a test. Life is a struggle. And peace just as love, is to be achieved through effort, fights for survival. Let us not get confused here, the liberal notions that corrupt our soul and confuse our minds and dampen our hearts, are suicidal positions that cannot lead ourselves, as individuals or as societies, to any kind of peace or achievement, but a suicidal surrender to enemies that only look for our demise.

But, that’s nothing new. These people, instead of aiming at the establishment and restoration of the real G-d and Torah abiding Jewish nation in the Land of Israel, they aim to destroy and disrupt the process.

Sometimes one may hear them speak as if they were Torah-abiding Jews, like Netanyahu, who publicly proclaimed that he is organizing a Torah class at his home. But, their actions are what actually matter, because in the end they defend more the enemy than their own country and people.

All their “make-believe” effort in the world, will never unveil an authentic commitment to the Jewish people or to the Torah, because instead of fighting the real enemy nations, they choose to go after the faithful of Israel - as it is mentioned in the Zohar (I/25).

Thus, the mision of the corrupted erev rav, the mixed multitude that is now at the helm of the Zionist Judeophobic Israeli government, is to put barriers and delay the path to rebuilding Jerusalem and to achieve the redemption of Israel.

This places the burden on the shoulders of Torah and G-d abiding Jews who should sow the seeds so that in a few hundred years the Kingdom of Israel should be established with its G-d Given Borders, and allow a successor of King David rule in the Land of G-d.

BENADOR: Enough! Israel is the Land of G-d -not of the evil Erev Rav

Recently, the liberal JTA, Jewish Telegraphic Agency, reported Hussein Obama’s recent visit to attend a fundraiser in New York, hosted by Jack Rosen, chairman of the American Jewish Congress. Mr. Obama took the opportunity to declare that Israel is the “most important ally of the United States,” JTA headlined the piece “Obama touts his pro-Israel credentials...” Really!

Perfect timing for the publication of the above piece, as it enlightens with utmost clarity the thesis of this article. Those who may think the issue is here with Mr. Hussein Obama, will be disappointed to find that attention will rather given to the real culprits in the eternal mess between Israel and the Jewish People with the outer world.

Netanyahu Government Demolishes Synagogue

And, in the most recent of the long string of treacherous attacks perpetrated against their own people, we learned that last Thursday night, the Israeli Government has hired Arabs to demolish the synagogue of Itamar where a beautiful Holocaust surviving Torah had just been dedicated a few days earlier by the organization led by the indefatigable Helen Friedman, Americans For a Safe Israel (AFSI)... The Netanyahu government perpetrated that crime at the same place where five members of the Fogel family had been massacred...

So, what is actually going on in Israel? How come are the authorities so intent in zapping the religious Jews.

A liberal-progressive-fascist conspiracy to take over the world is actively moving ahead -with the added bonus of Islamism or radical Islam sharing in the quest for world domination.

Likewise, the deterioration of the situation in Israel is definitely going from bad to worse as the government incessantly and increasingly takes measures that will benefit and protect more the enemy than their own -religious.

Facts

Sticking to facts is essential to report on History or simple facts of life. As such, the fact that the Torah is the G-d given book of guidance in life given to His Children, the Jewish People, is that: a fact. It is also a fact that the name “Israel” was first mentioned by G-d in His Book, the Torah, just as much as it was also G-d who mentioned for the first time ever, the word “sion” now also spelled ‘zion”. It is also a fact that, while G-d mentions by their name, in the Torah, many of the main nations of the world, the only one He actually creates in full, is Israel. It is also a fact that Israel is the only nation in the world whose country received precise G-d Given Borders.

Therefore it is impressive to find the massive number of individuals whose rabid, secular, liberal, godless approach to life has become the worst enemy the Jewish People in Israel and worldwide have.

The Erev Rav or The Fake Jew


It is the evil within, the Erev Rav or Fake Jew. It was the fake Jews who turned their back on G-d as, impatient, when Moses was away to receive G-d’s Commandments, they went back to idolatry. As a result 3,000 idolaters were killed.

When Shaul HaMelech [King Samuel] was given strict orders by Shmuel HaNavi [Shmuel The Prophet] not to take back any spoils -meaning that no captors were to be taken alive and they were all to be killed. Unfortunately, not everyone listened and amongst the captors was a king named Amalek. Amalek had offspring, that Torah observant Jews are still struggling against, until this day.



Ever since then, time and again, we find that same polluting weed. And, so began a long-standing story of deceit, ambition and greed, one which until now is being kept as much as possible far from public knowledge. These are some of the incredible facts that the public at large ignores.

Ignorance has been the cause of mistaken beliefs among Jews for decades. It’s time to shed light and set the record straight.

Although considered the father of modern political Zionism and the mastermind behind the establishment of modern Israel, Theodore Herzl was a virulent anti-Semite, who wanted to convert the Jews of Vienna, ‘en masse’, to Catholicism, and to that effect had already established contact with the Pope Pius X.

These are the words of Theodor Herzl (from his personal Diary), Zionist Leader and founder of the Zionist Congress: "I consider myself an average, modern Jew, and am not shaken from converting to Christianity. I give praise to every Jewish Parent that decides to convert to Christianity. I have a son, whom would sooner convert to Christianity rather than tomorrow, so that he would start being a Christian as soon as possible, and to spare him the injuries and discrimination I have suffered, and will continue to suffer because I am a Jew."

That's how the morale debacle has been taking place in Israel, in the name of 'unlimited' freedom, disregarding the orderly situation throughout the Universe inside and outside. Perfect timing for the publication of the above piece, as it enlightens with utmost clarity the thesis of this article. LETTER TO NETANYAHU: YOU ARE ENDANGERING YOUNG JEWISH SOLDIERS WHO RUSHED TO DEFEND ISRAEL

Dear Mr. Prime Minister:

As the whole world is aware of, thousands of young Jewish idealistic men and women from all over the world rush to help defend, protect Israel.

As a young soldier said to his Mother: "I must be there with them, Mom."

And, now we learn that Israel with you at the helm, has freed a top terrorist.

This is outrageous. Are you out of your mind????

Mr. Prime Minister, you do not deserve to be a prime minister of Israel.

It's easy to forget the fates of some Israeli prime ministers who, with ill will, wanted to deviate the course signaled by G-d Himself.

So, let me remind you of two of them:

The facilitator of the Oslo accords, your predecessor Yitzak Rabbin, who was assassinated.

And the one who everyone should be ashamed of: Ariel Sharon, who is in a coma for over 5 years.

Mr. Prime Minister, you should go you-know-where and find our leading Kabbalists and ask them to explain to you what does it mean to be in a coma...? I am sure they will find better words to tell you that there is no worse punishment than being in a coma, where your soul -in my words- rots not even in hell and most certainly NOT in heaven... Ask them!

Beware, Mr. Prime Minister, those young Jewish men and women are doing a Divine job, you endanger them at your own risk.

You may not believe in G-d, but let me remind you that the Land of Israel belongs to G-d Himself and no human has any ownership over it to decide what happens on, in or with Israel.

But, right, you are a secular Jew. An arrogant human who does not want to accept the Divine presence in everything we do. Again, do that at your own risk!

But, because you, like many leaders worldwide, are arrogant, let me speak in terms you will comprehend: You were actually elected by the people. You are nothing without the people. You are their employee. By the -bad- choice they did, they elected you. So, in a nutshell: Remember you did not choose to be a prime minister. THEY put you there. That's all.

Remember the Land of Israel before the Jews finally were home, where they belong?

Israel was purely a devastated and devastating desert.

ISRAEL FREES TOP TERRORIST - BECAUSE PRISONS ARE TOO CROWDED

Just like in 'enlightened Western countries,' says a Knesset MK, Israel needs to alleviate prison overcrowding by releasing inmates.

Israel's prisons are too crowded – so, in order to ensure compliance with newly-instituted rules on the amount of space prisoners are entitled to, the Prisons Service on Thursday released some 800 prisoners, who had been convicted of various crimes, from misdemeanors to felonies.

Among the 800 who were released were 200 security prisoners, mostly Arabs who had been arrested, tried, and found guilty of terrorist activity – and among that group released Thursday was Sheik Hassan Yousef, a Hamas founder and one of its top operatives in Judea and Samaria, who helped plan many of the terrorist group's attacks in the region. Yousef is the father of Mosab Hassan Yousef, who was revealed in 2010 to be a Shin Bet operative working undercover in Gaza. He is credited with helping to prevent dozens of terror attacks, thanks to the information he supplied Israelis security with.

The elder Yousef was serving a six year sentence for conspiracy in several bombing attacks. He had been set to be released in about two months.

According to a new regulation enacted several days ago by the Prisons Service after much pressure from the Knesset Interior and Environment Committee, the maximum number of prisoners in Israeli penal institutions cannot exceed 17,700. According to the regulation, each prisoner must be given at least 3 square meters of living area, and dividing that area with the amount of space in all of the country's prisons yields a figure of 17,700. After Thursday's release, the prisoner population is now “in balance;” however, when new prisoners are added, veteran prisoners will have to be released to make room for them. Prisons Service officials, by contrast, said there was enough room for all prisoners.

It should be noted that the space limitation applies only to prisoners serving proper sentences in regular prisons; it does not apply to people being held in detention centers after they were first arrested (usually for 24 or 48 hours) or to prisoners whose remand has been extended and are awaiting trial. It also does not extend to illegal aliens, who are held in separate facilities. A prisoner census update will be taken once every few weeks, and when the prisoner population exceeds 17,700, a group of prisoners – hopefully close to the end of their sentences – will be released.

However, Israel's prisons may have to “shed” many more inmates soon; MK Amnon Cohen (Shas), who heads the Interior and Environment Committee, is preparing to propose a law that will more than double the amount of space that must be provided to prisoners – from 3.1 square meters to 6.5 square meters. “Lack of a code on prison overcrowding, and failure to improve the conditions under which prisoners are held, is unacceptable in a country that purports to defend the rights and dignity of the individual.” Under his new law, Cohen said, the Prisons Service “will have to free prisoners if it cannot provide them with the minimal conditions of support, as is the practice in enlightened Western countries.”
