So, Bibi's speech in front of the American Congress came and went with the same speed as the winds that blow in the desert where Israel received their land from G-d Himself.
Sadly, none of us were surprised by the PM announcement that he was and is ready to give up Jewish Israeli land for peace and despite knowing that Israel's enemies are aiming to destroy country and people, he was unable to react as a former elite Sayeret Matkali and respond in sort in the face of danger.
What does any human being do in such cases, how does one react when someone is aiming to kill you or yours ? Wouldn't you shoot first?
When his brother, Yoni Netanyahu in the call of duty was in the face of danger, Yoni was the first to go in and got killed. He did not duck. He did not fear. He did what he had to do.
This Netanyahu is 'the other' kind of Netanyahu.
Saying that the land of Judea and Samaria are part of our Holy Land, and yet putting it on the table for exchange, was not only inadequate, but extremely irresponsible, endangering not only the people of the region, but also the courageous and young soldiers the IDF who are committed to their defense.
Saying that he people of Judea and Samaria are Jews -will not help, just as it did not help when the Fogel family was massacred in Itamar, Samaria some months ago -when Netanyahu and Ehud Barak gave in to inexcusable demands from the American president "not to continue" submitting Muslim Palestinians to searches because it was demeaning and attempting against their 'human' dignity. The result, we know it, was a despicable massacre where 2 parents and 3 of their children including a baby, had their throats slit and left to die in the most horrible dead...
And, Netanyahu had no better reaction than to order the building of 400 housing units in Judea Samaria.
What would have been the best possible response?
He should have simply signed the documents to 'legitimize' the status of Judea and Samaria once and for all.
Only then, the sacrifice of the Fogels would have made some kind of sense...
Now the enemy knows that the PM is putting the Land of Judea and Samaria up for grabs.
Regarding "Jerusalem United" this notion also came mitigated by some verbal acrobatics politicians are used to.
There are only two things in the favor of Israel's security so far in Netanyahu's speech:
(1) “Israel will not negotiate with a Palestinian government backed by the Palestinian version of al-Qaeda," he said, referring to Hamas.
(2) That the Palestinians be completely demilitarized while there would always be an Israeli military presence.
None of which regarding the Palestinians is likely to happen.
So, for now, we can breathe deeply and calmly and simply say Thank G-d for always looking after Israel and His people.
